Allison Druin (allisond@umiacs.umd.edu ) recently received a Career Award from the the National Science Foundation for her research in developing “The Classroom of the Future“. Her team of children and adults at the Human-Computer Interaction Lab and College of Education, the University of Maryland has been developing new technologies for young children over the past 3 years ( http://www.umiacs.umd.edu/~allisond/block/blocks.html ). However, what really keeps her busy is her 2 year old daughter that she and her husband adopted last year from Kazakhstan ( www.bederson.org/dana ). Allison was 3.5 years with STA.
