David Ohayon has been appointed VP R&D at Itamar Medical. David odavid@itamar-medical.com was 15 years with Scitex in Israel. Itamar Medical Ltd. www. itamar-medical.com of Caesarea Israel, is pioneering the introduction to medicine of a non-invasive window to the autonomic nervous system neurovascular signal. The Company’s researchers are developing proprietary technologies and advanced Digital Signal Processing algorithms to apply peripheral arterial tonometry in a number of important clinical applications including various aspects of cardiology and sleep medicine.

A new Internet startup company, Njet Communications Ltd, of Helsinki, Finland http://anvil.njet.com has been founded by three previous Scitex employees and a few other Internet professionals. The ExScite members and founders of the company are the Fins: Jaripekka Salminen, Heikki Luhtala (heikki@njet.com ) and Raimo Nurmi. Some of the founders were previously at Unda Oy – a Scitex Company. The company products include browser-based Internet content management publishing and Java based application scripting language for web applications and mobile services for the Internet.

Stan Najmr has been appointed Director at Presstek of Hudson, NH www.presstek.com . He’ll be responsible for direct imaging on presses. Mike Chadwick, also ex-STA, who spearheaded Brisque Open projects in CSA will join Presstek’s DI team soon as the DI Product Marketing Manager. Brian G. Eastman BEastman@spectra-inc.com joined Spectra in 4/1999 as VP Engineering. Prior to coming to Spectra, Brian was the President and CEO of Gerber Systems in Connecticut. Formerly he was Senior VP Engineering at Leaf Systems for 2 years when Scitex acquired it. He also held key development and management roles at Compugraphic Corporation (now Agfa Electronic Pre-Press Systems). The Hanover, NH based Spectra http://www.spectra-inc.com/company.html is a developer and manufacturer of piezoelectric ink-jet print heads and related consumables and accessories, making proprietary drop-on-demand ink jet print heads capable of producing high performance digital images in a wide variety of printing and fluid jetting applications.

For all those who wonder where Efi Arazi (earazi@csi.com ) is…he has moved from the West-Coast to the West-Side in NY.
After leaving Scitex in the middle of the eighties, Efi started EFI (Electronics For Imaging, NASDAQ: EFII) and later was the CEO on the San Francisco based Imedia. Currently, Efi plays the venture capital game focusing on the startup community in Israel.

Allison Druin (allisond@umiacs.umd.edu ) recently received a Career Award from the the National Science Foundation for her research in developing “The Classroom of the Future“. Her team of children and adults at the Human-Computer Interaction Lab and College of Education, the University of Maryland has been developing new technologies for young children over the past 3 years ( http://www.umiacs.umd.edu/~allisond/block/blocks.html ). However, what really keeps her busy is her 2 year old daughter that she and her husband adopted last year from Kazakhstan ( www.bederson.org/dana ). Allison was 3.5 years with STA.
